Barrhead Golf and Recreation has been recognized in Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” and they are hosting the 2024 Men’s Mid-Amateur Golf Championships July 17 to July 19.
“There are 120 players registered and the first two days the full field will be playing,” detailed Kevin Lions, club manager.
“There is a cut in players based on scores and a third of the field is cut off.”
“The remaining field of golfers play the final day.”
The Alberta champion will be crowned on Thursday July 18.
In 2023 Barrett Jarosch won the championship in a white knuckle back nine showdown with Ryan Werre which came down to the play at the 18 hole.
The golf course was designed by the renowned Les Furber, a Canadian Golf course architectural genius that has designed over 60 courses.
The Barrhead Golf Club is a must play course for golfers through-out Central Alberta and beyond.
The course is a challenging 6667-yard perfectly manicured layout.
The Crooked Iron Bargrill restaurant at the golf club has an excellent selection of food delights.
Camping is also available with a 36 RV site campground located at the entrance of the golf course close to the 6th and 7th hole on the course.
Located just south of Barrhead, an hour northwest of Edmonton, it is worth the trip for any golfer.
The Championship is a much-anticipated event.
