BARRHEAD – Culture Days got people thinking about art, dabbling in art, and admiring art all around Barrhead from Sunday, Sept. 22 to Saturday, Sept. 28.
There were 18 local businesses that participated in the Art Walk by making space for art to be displayed by 38 artists from the area.
“It is meant to be a celebration of culture in Alberta,” shared Kyle Hughes, one of the Barrhead Library organizers.
On Sept. 28 De Herdt Gardens hosted an Art Hive where several artists offered attendees the chance to try different types of art.
It was a lovely day and the ambience at De Herdt Gardens was perfect for getting creative juices flowing.
All types of people came to enjoy the art demonstrations and try their hand at the different set-ups.
There was rock painting, gel stencil printing, watercolour painting, drawing, acrylic painting and an assortment of vendors with their personal art items on display.
The Barrhead Library had an art Lego setup at the De Herdt Gardens Art Hive which the kids were quick to get involved in.
About half of the 38 artists showing their multi-media art were from the Barrhead Art Club, according to Hughes. Art included paintings, photography, quilting, and a host of different types of art.
The Barrhead Library received a grant to host a Culture Days event, an event that compliments the Month of the Artist in Alberta and National Culture Days across Canada.
The last art walk happened before COVID.
