A box containing money donated for Remembrance Day poppies was stolen from the Athabasca Husky gas bar yesterday.

Chantel Lynn Tremblay, 23, has been charged with theft under $5,000 in connection with the incident and will appear in Athabasca Provincial Court Dec. 9.

Athabasca RCMP arrested Tremblay after identifying her through video surveillance footage of the theft.

The box and its contents were not recovered.

Each year, Royal Canadian Legion branches, including the one in Athabasca, raise more than $14 million in total for the support of veterans and their families through the poppy campaign.
