ATHABASCA – The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues to follow-up on various leads surrounding the 2019 homicide of Athabasca-area resident Nature Duperron.

In April 2019 RCMP discovered human remains near Hinton, later identified as Duperron, and on Jan. 22 executed a search warrant in the McCauley area in Edmonton in relation to the investigation.

“At this time, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit can confirm they executed a search warrant, with the assistance of Edmonton Police Service, at a basement suite in the vicinity of 109 Avenue and 97 Street in Edmonton during the morning of Jan. 22,” RCMP stated in a news release the next day.

Cpl. Deanna Fontaine, a media relations officer with the RCMP, said law enforcement is going to “focus on that area at that time and whether or not someone had seen her or spoken to her.”

“This is the No. 1 focus right now in terms of trying to garner information from the public,” she stated.

Police continue to seek information from the public about the death of the 25 year old, who was reported missing by her family April 15; her remains were discovered days later 300 kilometres west of Edmonton.

RCMP stated investigators want to speak to anyone who saw Duperron during the first week of April in the area of 106 Avenue and 95 Street in Edmonton.

Duperron is survived by her three children, siblings and her parents.
