ATHABASCA – Four members of the Colinton Fire Department were recognized for their long service and dedication Jan. 2.
"These awards are for 12 plus years of dedicated service as firefighters," said Colinton fire chief Bruce Bretzlaff, in press release.
Mike Seguin was awarded the Alberta Emergency Services medal for 12 years of service as was Barry Vincent.
Murray Paches and Ken Wildfong receieved the same award with Paches recognized for nine years with the Baptiste Lake Fire Department and 22 years with Colinton and Wildfong for 26 years with the Colinton Fire Department.
Paches also received the Fire Services Exemplary Service medal. The medal honours members of a Canadian fire service with over 20 years of service, including 10 years involving duties with potential risk.
Wildfong also qualifed for the medal but his paperwork was misplaced and will be resubmitted this year.
"These firefighters have all given many hours of volunteer time to the community and are still active at Colinton Fire and Rescue," Bretzlaff stated.
