ATHABASCA — Charges laid against two Edmonton men related to a string of thefts from Athabasca businesses this spring were dropped by the Crown prosecutor in court July 22.
Two charges of failure to attend court and two charges of shoplifting under $5,000 laid against Kevin Dillion Truong, 36, were withdrawn in Athabasca Court by Crown Prosecutor Matthew Kerr.
One count of failure to attend and two more charges of shoplifting under $5,000 against Truong’s co-accused, David Tran, 35, were also dropped July 22. Kerr did impose a forfeiture order for any alleged stolen goods.
The charges were laid after Truong and Tran were arrested in Athabasca April 10 when local RCMP officers responded to a tip about a group of men reportedly stealing from a business in the 2500 block of 48 Ave.
