BREAKING: Aspen View school buses cancelled for Feb. 4

Cold weather and wind chill keeping busses at home as child safety at risk
Aspen View wants your take on what should be in the new school.
Aspen View's school busses will remain in the yard tomorrow with the cold snap continuing for at least one more day.

Aspen View Public School (AVPS) will not be running school busss for the second day in a row as temperatures remain in the low -20s with windchill.

Safety is our top priority and we want to make sure that all of our students who plan to attend arrive safely," said Ross Hunter, AVPS's communications officer.

"If you do not notify the school of your child’s absence, you may receive an automated attendance call asking you to call and confirm that they are absent."

Schools will remain open throughout the day as usual.

The temperature is expected to remain cold throughout the day — Environment Canada is predicting it'll get as cold as -34 C during the nighttime — but things are looking up a little later in the week. Wednesday is expected to rise to the low teens, with a daytime high of -17 C, and Thursday will feel balmy with a high of -10 C.
