ATHABASCA — Aspen View Public Schools board of trustees will have to elect a new vice chair during their April meeting after Anne Karczmarczyk officially resigned from the position on Friday, Mar. 21.

Karczmarczyk's decision was announced via a press release from the division after formal approval was given by the executive committee of the board of the trustees, and cited a recent move of house beyond the boundaries of North Central Ward 2, covering the Athabasca area.

"I have been a trustee since 2016 and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time representing Aspen View Public Schools locally and provincially," read Karczmarczyk's statement in the press release. "I am very passionate about the work we do and all that we have accomplished."

A new vice chair will be chosen by the remaining trustees during the April 17 meeting at Athabasca University, and will serve until the term elections in October. Karczmarczyk said despite the change of role, her advocacy for the area and the division will not stop with her resignation.
