An Alberta man will have to pay a $990 fine after driving 100km/hr through an active construction zone.

BOYLE — A local man was fined nearly $1,000 for driving 100 km/h in a construction zone while workers were on site.

Mark Ronald Gray appeared in Boyle Court of Justice Oct. 22 to enter a guilty plea to one charge of speeding through a 50 km/hr construction zone with workers present.

Traffic Crown prosecutor Sheila Ries said Gray was initially ticketed for travelling at 104 km/hr along Hwy 663 on Sept. 8, a charge against which he upheld a not guilty plea.

Gray did agree to plead guilty to a reduced speed of 100 km/hr, 50 km/hr over the construction zone maximum.

Justice Robert Shaigec accepted the plea and handed down a $990 fine along with the conviction.
