Oct. 4 was the annual national Sisters in Spirit Walk and over 40 people took part in the pilgrimage from the Athabasca Native Friendship Centre (ANFC) to Riverfront Park where a ceremony was held to bring awareness to the missing and murdered Indigenous women. Most recently, the names of local women – Nature Duperron, Kelsey Thunder, and Gloria Gladue – have been added to the list of those taken from their families far too soon, as seen in the group of signs participants carried during the vigil.
