Sirens forward Carpenter named PWHL first star after career-high three-point game

NEW YORK — New York Sirens forward Alex Carpenter was named PWHL first star of the week Monday after a career-high three-point game in a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Frost.

She had two goals - including the overtime winner - and an assist in the season-opening win.

Montreal Victoire forward Marie-Philip Poulin took the second star and teammate Abby Boreen was named third star for their efforts in a 4-3 shootout win over the Ottawa Ice.

Poulin scored the shootout winner and had 18 faceoff wins on 21 draws. Boreen had a goal and an assist.
