Sixth arrest made after woman's body found south of Calgary

Thirty-seven-year-old Calgary resident Tara Miller was found dead near Highway 552 and 128 Street East in Foothills County on March 30, 2023. Police have now charged six people in connection to Miller's death.

More charges have been announced by police after a woman’s body was found east of Okotoks last spring. 

Ahmed Chehade, 32, of Calgary, is the sixth person charged in connection to the death of 37-year-old Calgary resident Tara Miller.

Miller's body was found near Highway 552 and 128 Street East in Foothills County in March 2023, and the cause of death was determined to be homicide. 

Chehade was charged with manslaughter after being taken into custody by the Calgary Police Service and the RCMP Major Crimes Unit on Nov. 21.

Following a hearing, he was remanded into custody and appears at Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Nov. 25. 

A fifth suspect, 43-year-old Paul Fettig, was charged with manslaughter earlier this month. 

Four other suspects were charged in January 2024 with various offences related to Miller's death: 

Gurpreet Gill, 30, of Calgary, was charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault and using a firearm in an indictable offence.  

Greg Schuster, 30, was charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault and accessory after the fact. 

Shyana Popplestone, 25, was charged with manslaughter. 

Jared Burke, 24, of Wheatland County, was charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault and using a firearm in an indictable offence.
