The Canadian Anti-Hate Fraud Centre (CAFC) reports last year as a historic one for financial losses.

For Fraud Prevention Month, the RCMP have joined forces with CAFC and the Competition Bureau to raise awareness about the continued prevalence of scams and fraud.

Around $379 million was lost nationally to fraud and scam tactics in 2021, with investment scams topping the list for highest financial losses exceeding $113 million.

To report being a victim of scam, fraud or cyber crime, contact your local police. Also, contact the CAFC via their online reporting system or by phone at 1-888-495-8501 to further aid law enforcement.
