Two people shot in Lloydminster home invasion with 8 suspects

Update: Lloydminster RCMP say eight people were involved in a home invasion on Tuesday morning that resulted in two people being shot. Officers were dispatched at about 7:06 a.m. and secured the area.

Police say there was an altercation during the home invasion and shots were fired. Two individuals suffered life-threatening injuries but are expected to survive.

Lloydminster RCMP has located four individuals and working on identifying four more suspects. They say no other information is available at this time.

Though the scene will be secured for the ongoing investigation, the rest of the area has been reopened and the Lloydminster RCMP doesn’t believe there is a public safety risk at this time.

Lloydminster RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating witnesses to this event, as well as footage, in order to gather more information. There is a heavy Lloydminster RCMP police presence in the area of 39 street and 57 avenue in Lloydminster, as well as 57 avenue, between 36 street and 40 street.

They will be closed until further notice.

RCMP say there is no immediate concern for public safety, but considering this is an evolving situation, the public is asked to stay away from the area while police respond.

RCMP also ask that photos and information regarding responding officers not be placed on social media until after the incident is over.
