OLDS - The federal government plans to announce “significant” support to help bring new Alberta value-added agricultural products, services, and applications to market during a stop at Olds College today.

In a release issued Tuesday by Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan), the department confirmed PrairiesCan Minister Dan Vandal would be at the college on the afternoon of July 3 to make the announcement.

The federal support is “for a range of projects and initiatives that build capacity for Alberta-based organizations and businesses to bring new value-added agricultural products, services, and applications to market,” the release said.

Joining Vandal for the announcement will be RJ Sigurdson, Alberta’s minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Joy Agnew, Olds College vice-president of research, representatives from Central Alberta companies Pure Life Carbon and BiziSul Inc. as well as a representative from Stettler Learning Centre’s Rural Routes to Climate Solutions initiative.
