An Airdrie semi truck driver has been charged with with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death in a collision near Drumheller.
According to police, on Nov. 14, 2024, shortly after 7:00 a.m., Drumheller RCMP, with the assistance of three local Fire Departments and EMS, responded to a report of a head on collision. Upon arrival, officers began an investigation into the collision which involved a detached semi tractor truck and a sedan. Unfortunately, the driver of the sedan was declared deceased at the scene.
RCMP have completed their investigation, and as a result, charges have been pursued against the driver of the semi truck.
Navdeep Singh Gakhal (37), a resident of Airdrie, Alta., has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and an offence under the Traffic Safety Act.
Gakhal was released to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller on March 14, 2025.
