Alberta reports 40 new COVID cases as more services prepare to open

EDMONTON — Alberta is reporting 40 new cases of COVID-19.

The province says there have been no new deaths, but autopsies show that two fatalities previously listed were not caused by the illness.

The death toll stands at 149.

There are currently 379 active cases out of a total of 7,316.

Just over 317,000 tests have been completed.

The government has said that because of low case numbers, more businesses and services are being allowed to open starting Friday, including casinos, churches, pools, arenas, libraries and movie theatres.
