The Thorhild 4-H District welcomed a new club this year.
The district now consists of the New Brook 4-H Club, Radway 4-H Club (currently on a hiatus for the year) as well as the Bon Accord 4-H Club. The clubs had their district communications competition held at the New Brook Hall on Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. Congratulations to all members who participated.
The results for speeches were: Harper MacMillan won 2nd place in the Junior category, and Alyssa Ollikka won first place for her speech "How to be a Farm Girl."
Makenna Ollikka took second place in the Intermediate category, and Willow Lyons won first place for her speech "Profit or Loss."
In the senior category, first place went to Denver Lyons. His speech was titled "Friend or Foe."
For the presentations competition, in the junior category, second place went to Bryn Walsh and Emma Sheehan, and first place went to Brinell Beatch and Kenley Nendze. Their presentation was called "Time for Trifle."
For the intermediates, second place went to Lexi Nendze and Kaylee Kuzyk, and first place was Clay Walsh and Wyatt Sheehan, presenting about "Steamy Past."
In the senior age category, second place went to Tayten Wager, and first place was Chevilyn Sinnott, and Savannah Barber for their presentation "How to Make Snickerdoodles."
The members who placed first moved on to the regional competition on March. 9, where they represented our district on a regional level.
Huge congratulations to all of the members who made it past the district level. The two clubs will be joining again for their district carcass projects competition in May. Carcass haul-in day is May 9th, when all the finished projects will be weighed, and the reveal date is May 14th, when the winners will be announced. The New Brook Livestock Achievement Day is on June. 7 at the Waskatenau Arena. The sale starts at 5 p.m. Their Horse Achievement Day is on June 2 at the Waskatenau Arena. The Bon Accord 4-H Club Achievement Day is on May 29 at the Sturgeon Agriplex. The show starts at 1 p.m., followed by dinner, and the sale starts at 6 p.m.
