The Airdrie City View has reached out to every 2025 Federal Election candidate in the Airdrie-Cochrane riding with the same questions. They will be published in the order that they were received.
Christopher Bell is the Christian Heritage Party (CHP) candidate for the Airdrie-Cochrane riding in the 2025 Federal Election.
QUESTION: What is your political experience and why have you chosen to run in this election cycle with the CHP?
ANSWER: This is my first time ever running in a civic election, though I have some volunteer experience in the past and I currently sit on a constituency board. The reason I am running is because I love the people of Airdrie and I want to afford them a Christian, 100% pro-life choice on the ballot.
Q: What have been some of your proudest achievements before running for office?
A: Proudest achievements? I might say putting my faith in Jesus Christ is one, but that's His achievement in my life, and not my own. I'd say that graduating with my civil engineering degree, marrying my beautiful wife, and being part of a church that chose to remain open during the COVID lockdowns, these are my proudest achievements.
Q: What will you and your party do to stand up to President Trump’s tariffs and 51st state rhetoric?
A: The Christian Heritage Party will push for the deregulation of inter-provincial trade barriers so that we can ship oil and gas out east, as well as other natural resources which we are so abundantly blessed with in the western provinces. Furthermore, the CHP will annul the income tax and replace it with what's called the FAIR tax, that is, a flat-rate 20% tax on the sale of new products. This gives Canadians more money in their pockets and more power to choose how they pay their taxes, and how much. This would also significantly cut down the size of the workforce in the CRA. On a related note, the CHP would seek to cut out most government departments, which would translate to big tax savings for Canadians. In sum, the talk of tariffs and of joining the USA only threaten us because we have been made weak financially, and the way forward is to look at our own country and fix that which is weak and broken within us.
Q: What is the biggest issue facing Canadians that you wish to tackle?
A: The biggest issue facing Canada is that we don't love God, or give Him thanks for His goodness to us, or obey His commandments. Therefore, God is judging us, and we are reaping the consequences. If you read Deuteronomy chapter 28 and pay attention to the curses God promised to Israel for their disobedience, you may be shocked to see some of the same curses being poured out on us. Furthermore, as the Bible has been driven out of Parliament, our laws have reflected an embrace of these curses and a longing for the things God hates. The CHP is committed to overturning such laws, restoring the Bible as the highest authority that Parliament consults, and fulfilling the duty of government set out in 1 Peter chapter 2, to punish those who do evil and to reward those who do good.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
A: Yes. Some may wonder whether I am drawing people away from voting for the Conservatives. After all, the CHP is more closely aligned with them than they are with the Liberals or NDP, right? Yes, but just barely. The Conservatives of today are far more liberal than the Liberals have historically been. During the COVID lockdowns, the Conservatives were silent when churches continued to stay open to worship God, and when homes and businesses were punished for defying the mandates. They have pushed for radical gender ideology by fast-tracking the bill banning so-called Conversion Therapy in December 2021. Pierre Poilievre has repeatedly stated that no bill would ever pass under his leadership to restrict the current level of access to abortion. Ask yourself, if this party will not preserve the natural family and the Christian religion, what is left to conserve? And yet the CHP is committed to not only conserving these things but also in giving space for them to prosper and flourish.
If you are concerned about conserving what truly matters, vote CHP.
