WESTLOCK — Westlock County has launched a interactive, user-friendly platform that residents can use to check on the municipality’s progress in achieving the objectives of its 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.
The Strategic Plan Public Dashboard, which can now be viewed via a link at the county’s website, was officially launched last Thursday.
“Our public dashboard is evidence of our commitment toward meeting the community-wide goals laid out in our strategic plan,” said Westlock County Reeve Christine Wiese, in a release.
“By sharing our progress publicly, we are holding ourselves accountable and being transparent in our efforts to align our resources within the needs of our community.”
As noted on the dashboard itself, the county’s Strategic Plan was first developed in 2023 with input from stakeholders throughout the community.
There are four pillars within the plan — economic strength and viability, investing in our built and natural environments, welcoming community for all and organizational excellence.
Each of these pillars has three goals attached to them. For instance, under the economic strength pillar, the county wants to develop a strong business ecosystem, build strong and vibrant hamlets and increase collaboration with regional stakeholders.
The county also has a corporate business plan and a variety of tactics to achieve each of these goals. The dashboard itself outlines these tactics and even displays progress bars that demonstrate how far the county has advanced.
“We’re working towards strategic objectives that will greatly benefit Westlock County ratepayers, and we want to ensure they have insight into how the county is supporting the direct needs of our community,” said chief administrative officer Tony Kulbisky.
“The Public Dashboard will allow us to build greater trust with residents while streamlining reporting performed by staff. With access to comprehensive reporting processes that visualize our efforts, we’re providing our ratepayers, staff and council with a valuable resource to demonstrate the progress we’re making.”
The release states that the dashboard is powered by Envisio, an “industry-leading” strategy and performance management software program utilized by governments and other public agencies.
